We all know how the Unawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 impacted the online gambling market as far as the USA is concerned. Unfortunately, besides the online games based exclusively on luck, (like sports betting, casino games etc.) online poker (which may or may not be considered gambling) has also been influenced, mostly in a negative way.
The law itself -whether you like it or not - is here to stay, and will most probably stick around no matter what rumours there are, and regardless of whether the Democrats assert control in the future or not.
The law is the law and where there’s a law enforced, there is no room for bargaining. This fact was soon recognized by major online-funds transfer companies too ( such as Neteller) who discontinued accepting funds from American customers. Online poker rooms were quick to adapt to the situation as well, thus, today there are few places where American poker players can turn for some online poker action.
Few, however doesn’t mean that there aren’t any.
As a matter of fact some of the most prestigious online poker rooms still accept players from the US.

Absolute poker is not one of the biggest poker rooms, but thanks to the successful marketing campaign they have undertaken, it’s fast becoming one of the most popular medium sized ones. Texas Holdem is the main course here, and the games run loose enough, so it’s safe to say there’s money to be made at Absolute poker.
